About

The conserved bushveld in excess of 400 hectares on which the lodge is situated is being expanded significantly with the ongoing removal of km’s of ubiquitous game fencing.

Under the passionate, expert and watchful eye of engineer and ecologist, owner Paul Allin and in partnership with local conservation NGOs such as Transfrontier Africa, the reserve is actively rewilding the habitat, thus significantly increasing biodiversity.

About Transfrontier Africa

Focusing primarily on ecological research and protected area management, Transfrontier Africa initiated the Balule Research Facility that partners with several local and international research institutions. When the rhino poaching crisis emerged and Balule Nature Reserve became a target, Transfrontier Africa realigned to tackle this challenge. A multi-pronged approach was developed to address the problems and research, socio-economic, technological and tactical solutions were developed and implemented.

During the past three and a half years, Transfrontier Africa has focused most of its efforts on strengthening partnerships with the adjacent communities and seeking new technologies and partnerships to solve the illegal wildlife trade.

Transfrontier Africa has various Projects running simultaneously which include :

  • Various Conservation & Research Projects
  • The Black Mambas (All Female ) Anti -Poaching unit
  • The Bush Babies - community environmental education program
